23 Killed in Series of Explosions in Maiduguri, Nigeria

March 16, Kathmandu – At least 23 people have died and over 100 others injured in a series of devastating explosions in Maiduguri city, Nigeria. The incident occurred on Tuesday, as reported by the international news agency Al Jazeera.

Local authorities indicated that the blasts are suspected to be suicide bombings. Additionally, the police successfully defused three other explosive devices.

The explosions took place near the gate of the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, a local market, and outside the post office.

Previously, the city has been destabilized by attacks on military centers and bombings at mosques in December.

Fighters from Boko Haram and the rival jihadist group Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) have reportedly stepped up attacks in northeastern Nigeria recently.
