March 16, Kathmandu – Golden Gate International Club secured an exhilarating one-point victory over Playbox Arena in the Himalayan Java National Basketball League (HJNB 2026) on Tuesday night.

The highly competitive and thrilling match took place at the Dasarath Rangashala Covered Hall in Tripureshwor, where Golden Gate edged Playbox 77-76.

Golden Gate established an early lead by winning the first quarter 17-15 and the second quarter 18-16, taking a 35-31 advantage at halftime. However, Playbox staged a comeback in the third quarter, outscoring Golden Gate 20-18 and narrowing the gap, setting up a tense fourth quarter. In the final period, Playbox scored 25 points to Golden Gate’s 24, yet Golden Gate ultimately claimed the win by one point.

Vikas Gurung was the top scorer for Golden Gate, contributing 18 points.

This victory marked Golden Gate’s third win in four games, while Playbox suffered their third defeat. With 7 points, Golden Gate rose to fourth place, while Playbox stands sixth with 5 points.

In Tuesday’s second match, Times defeated Solo Basketball Club.

The second edition of the HJNB League, organized and managed by the Nepal Basketball Association (NEBA), features eight teams competing.

The league consists of a double round-robin format with a total of 56 games. After the league stage, the top four teams will advance to the playoffs. The first qualifier will be played between the first and second-ranked teams, and the eliminator will feature the third and fourth-placed teams. The loser of the first qualifier and the winner of the eliminator will face off in the second qualifier. The winners of the first and second qualifiers will then compete in the final.
