Explosion During Electric Car Charging in Indore, India Kills 7 People


March 17, Kathmandu – A fire caused by an electrical short circuit in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India has resulted in the deaths of seven people. Early Wednesday morning, three others sustained serious injuries in the incident.

The incident occurred around 4 a.m. in a colony near Bengali Chowraha in Indore. Most residents were asleep in their homes at the time of the fire.

Santosh Kumar Singh, the Police Commissioner of Indore, stated that the fire originated from an electric car that was being charged outside a house. “Preliminary investigation indicates that around 4 a.m., a short circuit occurred at the charging point, igniting the car,” he explained. “Within minutes, the fire spread inside the house, where a large number of gas cylinders were stored.”

Approximately 15 gas cylinders stored inside the house exploded due to the fire. Eyewitnesses reported that four cylinders detonated one after another.
