Chief Justice Claims Judicial System Is Gradually Returning to Normalcy

March 18, Nepalgunj – Chief Justice Prakash Man Singh Raut stated that the judicial system is gradually returning to its normal rhythm due to improved coordination within the judiciary. During a discussion with legal professionals in Nepalgunj on Wednesday, he shared his views on judicial governance, management of case files that were destroyed in past movements, and the improvement of perceptions toward the courts.
Chief Justice Raut emphasized prioritizing the management of case files burnt during the Janajati Andolan and reviving the judicial sector. He informed that approximately 20,000 case files were destroyed in the Supreme Court, of which 19,000 have now been restored. Furthermore, he revealed that he is coordinating from the central level with the Attorney General’s Office to restore files burnt in district courts.
Highlighting that the proper functioning of courts leads to satisfaction among legal practitioners, Chief Justice Raut urged collaboration with legal professionals for the reinstatement of case files and effective delivery of justice.
He also acknowledged that the destruction of courts may have been influenced by negative perceptions toward the judiciary and stressed the need for reviewing such attitudes.
He remarked that it is important to seriously consider why, amid changing circumstances, public perception toward courts has become negative.
Likewise, Chief Justice Raut emphasized the necessity for both courts and legal practitioners to adapt themselves in a timely manner to evolving environments. –Press Trust
