Maternity Patient Airlifted from Sankhuwasabha Due to Severe Hemorrhaging

March 18, Sankhuwasabha – A maternity patient suffering from severe hemorrhaging was airlifted by helicopter. On Wednesday, 28-year-old Saru Rai from Makalu Rural Municipality-1 was evacuated by the Nepal Army helicopter due to excessive bleeding.
According to Chief District Officer Sirjana Thapliya, Saru was rescued under the coordination of the Ministry of Women, Children and Senior Citizens as part of the Presidential Women’s Upliftment Program.
Saru had delivered her baby via cesarean section at the Sankhuwasabha District Hospital at 8 a.m. today. Following the delivery, her condition deteriorated due to heavy bleeding, prompting the helicopter evacuation.
District Hospital Chief Santosh Dev stated that she was airlifted from Sankhuwasabha to the maternity hospital located in Thapathali, Kathmandu for further treatment.
During the current fiscal year 2082/83, a total of one dozen pregnant and maternity patients have been evacuated from Sankhuwasabha via helicopter.
