March 19, Biratnagar – A tipper truck collision with a scooter in Sundarharaicha Municipality-5, Bansbari, Morang has resulted in one death and left another seriously injured.
The accident occurred at around 10:30 AM on the East-West Highway in Bansbari when a sand-loaded tipper truck bearing license plate Province 2–01–001 Kha 0038, traveling from east to west, collided head-on with a scooter traveling in the opposite direction with license plate KO 25 Pa 3484.
Mausam Kafle, 17, a passenger on the scooter from Sundarharaicha-4, was critically injured in the crash. Despite being rushed to Birat Teaching Hospital located in Budhiganga Rural Municipality for immediate treatment, doctors declared him dead.
The scooter driver, 16-year-old Anup Chapagain from Sundarharaicha-5, also sustained serious injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at Birat Teaching Hospital, according to DSP Leelraj Lamichhane, Information Officer of Morang Police.
The police have apprehended the tipper truck and its driver, 57-year-old Shivnarayan Khang from Tirahut Rural Municipality-2 in Saptari, in connection with the accident.
