Ujyalo Nepal Party Submits Memorandum to Prime Minister

7 Chaitra, Kathmandu – The Ujyalo Nepal Party congratulated Prime Minister Sushila Karki for successfully guiding the country through difficult times to a safe transition.

A delegation led by party chairman Kulman Ghising met with Prime Minister Karki at Baluwatar today, expressing appreciation for her dedication and commitment that enabled peaceful elections.

In a context where many had expressed doubts about holding elections, the delegation praised the government for conducting a clean and fraud-free election across the country simultaneously by gaining the trust of all stakeholders, calling it no small achievement.

“We sincerely congratulate and thank the honorable Prime Minister for fulfilling the great responsibility of providing political stability through the successful completion of elections while demonstrating strong leadership in challenging circumstances,” said Chairman Ghising. “Though I lost, the country has won. Under your leadership, the nation has achieved self-reliance, which makes me happy. At this historic and important moment, I also had the chance to serve in this government for some time. Even if I am no longer in parliament, I will continue to work for the country from outside.”

Prime Minister Karki applauded the Ujyalo Nepal Party for its participation in the election, which contributed to the electoral process. She also praised Ghising’s effective role in the government’s success.

“Your party has experts from various fields,” said Prime Minister Karki. “Such cream of society members can do a lot for the country even from outside parliament. You should not be discouraged by a single election result. There is much work ahead. Continue moving forward unwaveringly. I extend my best wishes.”

During the meeting, the party also requested Prime Minister Karki to ensure the safety of Nepali citizens in the Gulf region and to publicly release the report of the commission led by Gauribahadur Karki.

Date: 2082 Chaitra 7
Honorable Prime Minister,
Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Singha Durbar.
Subject: Regarding the safety of Nepali citizens in the Gulf region and the public release of the Gauribahadur Karki Commission report.

Honorable Prime Minister,

First and foremost, we express our heartfelt congratulations and gratitude for your exemplary leadership in successfully conducting the elections and providing political stability to the country under challenging circumstances.

Recently, the escalating conflict in the Gulf region has raised serious concerns. This situation is impacting both military and civilian sectors and is becoming increasingly complex. More than 1.8 million Nepali workers, who contribute approximately 8 trillion annually to the national economy, are at direct risk. The security of Nepalis working in construction, service, security, and oil sectors is deteriorating. Furthermore, incidents such as the death of Gorakha Dayasreshtha in the UAE and injuries to others have drawn grave attention.

We welcome the Nepal government’s steps such as suspension of labor permits, gathering victim information, formation of emergency teams, and diplomatic negotiations. However, delays in evacuation processes increase the risk to millions more. In this context, the Ujyalo Nepal Party strongly urges immediate humanitarian actions:
1. A detailed plan with digital tracking must be publicly released and effectively implemented for the safe evacuation, rescue, and relief of Nepali workers in the Gulf.
2. Embassies and consulates should be fully activated with 24/7 hotlines, health services, shelters, and real-time information systems.
3. High-level diplomatic efforts should be coordinated with the UN, International Labor Organization, and concerned countries to protect lives and ensure regional peace.
4. Affected Nepalis should receive financial aid, virtual psychosocial counseling, and regular communication with families.
5. Special flights and land routes should start immediate rescue for those wishing to return home, with a national employment portal to aid their reintegration.

Regarding the Gauribahadur Karki-led investigative commission formed to examine incidents related to the Janajati movement, the report has been submitted to the Nepal government but remains unpublished, which is a serious concern. This lack of disclosure is causing confusion, suspicion, dissatisfaction, and mistrust toward the state among citizens.

Publicizing such reports is fundamental for democratic governance, transparency, and accountability. The victims, injured, deceased families, and concerned citizens expect truth and justice, and keeping the report confidential is inappropriate. We believe that only by revealing the truth can justice, reform, and social trust be established.
Therefore, Ujyalo Nepal Party demands the following from the Nepal government:

1. The immediate public release of the Gauribahadur Karki commission’s report.
2. If there are delays, the government should provide clear official information and a timeline.
3. Based on the report’s conclusions and recommendations, impartial, transparent, and lawful action must be taken against responsible parties.
4. Decisions that ensure justice, truth, and restitution for victims, injured, families, and affected communities must be made.
5. A clear corrective plan should be publicly released to prevent such incidents in the future, including improvements in security mechanisms, crowd management, command systems, and human rights protection.

Responding to humanitarian crises is a national duty of the government. Ensuring transparency, accountability, and justice within a democratic system is an unavoidable responsibility. Given that the lives of millions of Nepali citizens are at risk and public trust is declining, government silence and delay are unacceptable.

Therefore, Ujyalo Nepal Party urgently appeals to the government to take concrete steps to protect Nepali citizens, disclose the truth, and establish justice. The party also stands fully ready to provide any necessary support for these efforts.

Kulman Ghising
Chairman
