March 22, Kathmandu: Former minister and CPN-UML leader Bhim Acharya was released on bail after paying NPR 250,000 in the corruption case involving Pokhara International Airport. Acharya appeared before the Special Court on Monday. The bench comprising judges Narayan Prasad Paudel, Hemant Rawal, and Umesh Koirala had ordered the bail amount.

Court information officer Yagyraj Regmi confirmed that Acharya has been released after depositing the bail amount.

“He was required to submit NPR 250,000 as bail. After paying that amount, he has been released,” Regmi stated.

The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) alleged that Acharya, during his tenure as Tourism Minister, irregularly increased the airport construction expenses. The CIAA filed the case against him and other accused individuals at the Special Court on December 6 last year.
