March 24, Kathmandu – The National Sports Council (NSC) has issued a letter to the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) asking for a written explanation within 24 hours if there is no reason to take disciplinary action against it.
Saroj Kumar Pokharel, Head of the Sports Development Department at NSC, stated that despite repeated discussions and instructions, compliance has not been observed, prompting the letter demanding a justification within 24 hours.
“Given the repeated failure to comply with discussions and directives from the regulatory body, the Executive Committee of the Council decided in its meeting dated 2082/12/09 (Nepali calendar) that since Section 28(d) and Section 29(1) of the Act have been disregarded, and actions contrary to existing laws have been taken, the question arises why disciplinary action should not be taken according to Section 29(2) of the Act. Therefore, as per Section 7 of the Act, we request a written explanation with valid reasons within 24 hours of receipt of this letter,” the letter states.
Previously, NSC had informed ANFA on March 19 to provide written information within three days regarding the postponement of elections. However, on March 22, ANFA replied that the elections would not be postponed and they would be held as scheduled on March 27.
On Monday, NSC Member Secretary Ram Charitra Mehta convened discussions at NSC with ANFA President Pankaj Bikram Nembang, General Secretary Kiran Rai, and other stakeholders concerning the early election issue.
Following these discussions, the NSC Executive Committee meeting extended a final opportunity to ANFA to submit clarifications within 24 hours.
