Discussion Underway to House Gauribahadur Karki in Nepali Army Barracks Amid Heightened Security at His Residence

March 27, Kathmandu – Assessing security risks, the government is preparing to place Gauribahadur Karki, the head of the investigation commission probing the JNU movement-related case, in the Nepali Army barracks.
Acting on the commission’s recommendation, police arrested former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak on Saturday. Since then, there has been significant unrest among leaders and cadres of the CPN-UML. The atmosphere throughout Kathmandu has remained tense throughout the day.
Due to these circumstances and considering the security risks, sources have indicated that arrangements are underway to house Karki in the army barracks. Additionally, tight security measures are being enforced at his residence in Gundu, Bhaktapur.
