The UML Syangja district committee lodged their protest against the detention of former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli by submitting a letter to the Prime Minister through the chief district officer. The letter, expressing objection to the arrests of party chairman KP Sharma Oli and former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, was sent to the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers Office in Singha Durbar.

UML Syangja raised concerns that the recently formed government used the implementation of the Gaurav Bahadur Karki Commission report as a pretext to arrest Oli and Lekhak, labeling the incident as unconstitutional and motivated by political bias. The party condemned the move as undemocratic, retaliatory, and illegal. The letter, signed by party district president Surya Prasad Gaire, also stated that the government and administration must bear responsibility for all situations arising from the ensuing protests.
