Thapa and Other Leaders Engage in Discussions Following Parallel Activities by Dissident Group

Former acting president of the Congress, Purna Bahadur Khadka, has called a central working committee meeting elected from the 14th General Convention for tomorrow. Following the arrest of former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, Khadka issued a statement and also convened a meeting of district chairs close to Sher Bahadur Deuba. Kathmandu, 16 Chaitra – After the dissident faction in the Nepali Congress began parallel activities, the establishment group has convened for talks. Following the summons for the central working committee meeting called by the outgoing acting president Purna Bahadur Khadka, party officials including Congress President Gagan Thapa are currently engaged in discussions at the party’s central office in Sanepa. After the arrest of former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, Khadka issued a statement in his capacity as acting president, and also called a meeting of district chairs aligned with Sher Bahadur Deuba. In response to the dissident group’s active parallel activities, Thapa and other officials have come together for internal discussions. Regarding the talks, one official provided a brief comment, stating, ‘This is not a formal meeting but an informal discussion.’
