High Wind Risk in Many Areas Today, Snowfall in Hill Regions and Moderate Rain Expected

March 21, Kathmandu – Nepal is currently under the influence of a western low-pressure system along with local winds. The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has reported generally cloudy conditions in the Himalayan areas of Bagmati, Lumbini, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces, while other regions are experiencing partly cloudy weather.
This afternoon, mainly cloudy skies are expected in the Himalayan regions along with the hill areas of Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces. The rest of the country will experience partly cloudy conditions.
According to the department, some areas in the hill and Himalayan regions of Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces may experience moderate rain or snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning. Additionally, light rain or snowfall with thunder and lightning is possible at one or two locations in the Terai region of Sudurpashchim Province and some other hill and Himalayan areas.
There is also a possibility of strong winds in some places across the Terai regions of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, the department added.
Tonight, the hill and Himalayan regions are expected to remain mostly cloudy, while other parts of the country will see partly cloudy skies. Moderate rain or snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely at certain locations in the hill and Himalayan areas of Gandaki, Karnali, Sudurpashchim provinces, as well as other Himalayan areas across provinces.
Light rain or snowfall with thunder and lightning may also occur in some hill areas and one or two places in the Terai of Sudurpashchim Province.
Strong winds could affect some parts of the Terai regions in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces as well.
