Fencing Athlete Anita Karki Prepares to Climb Mount Everest

Fencing athlete Anita Karki is preparing to ascend Mount Everest, the world’s highest peak. On Monday, Deepak Bisht, President of the Nepal Olympic Association, and Deepak Shrestha, President of the Nepal National and International Athletes Association, held an event to bid her farewell and wish her success. Anita is scheduled to depart from Kathmandu to Lukla on Tuesday.

Anita plans to reach the base camp within approximately one week. She mentioned that she will undergo health assessments and finalize the climbing date accordingly. During her ascent, she will carry the flags of the Olympic Association, the Athletes Association, and the Nepal Fencing Association.

Anita, a silver medalist in the 13th South Asian Games held in Nepal, has previously climbed Chulu Far East Mountain, which is 6,038 meters high.
