Iran has put forward a peace proposal through Pakistan aimed at permanently ending the ongoing conflict with the United States and Israel. Tehran rejected the US’s 15-point proposal, stating that a long-term solution based on its own conditions is necessary. The Iranian peace message includes demands to end regional conflicts, secure navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, reconstruction efforts, and the lifting of sanctions.
Following an in-depth review lasting nearly two weeks of the 15-point proposal from the US, Iranian leadership chose to submit its peace proposal via Pakistan. US President Donald Trump had given Iran a deadline until Tuesday to reopen the maritime passage of the Strait of Hormuz. Trump also warned that if Iran failed to reopen the Strait, key Iranian facilities such as power plants and bridges would be targeted.
One day before the Tuesday deadline expired, Iran delivered a peace message aiming to bring the conflict to a permanent end. On April 6, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ismail Baghaei confirmed that messages were exchanged through intermediaries. However, he also stated that Tehran had rejected the US’s 15-point plan.
According to IRNA, Iran’s 10-paragraph response rejected the ceasefire concept based on “past experiences.” Instead, Iran emphasized the need for a long-term solution founded on its own conditions. The peace document presented by Tehran reportedly includes demands such as ending the regional conflict, guaranteeing safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz, reconstruction initiatives, and the removal of sanctions.
