The injured individual is Vishal Yadav, a resident of Rohini Rural Municipality Ward No. 2, Khuruhuria in Rupandehi. Yadav sustained a gunshot wound to the left calf and is currently receiving treatment at Bhim Hospital in Bhairahawa. According to DSP Krishnakumar Chand, the Information Officer of Rupandehi District Police Office, police attempted to stop a motorcycle bearing the registration number UP 56 F 9901, carrying three individuals, in Kotahawa area of Rohini Rural Municipality Ward No. 4, based on information about drug trafficking. The suspects fled, prompting the police to open fire.
During the effort to subdue the suspects who had thrown stones at the police, officers fired one round of warning shots and two live rounds, resulting in the arrest of three individuals along with the seizure of drugs, DSP Chand stated. The police arrested Vishal Yadav, Arun Kumar, age 18, from Bisunpuruwa, Maharajganj, Tulshipur, India, and Vinay Pandey, age 20, from the same location, all in possession of narcotics, according to DSP Chand.
After inspecting the motorcycle used by the arrested suspects, the police recovered 1,100 ampoules each of pheniramine, diazepam, and brufen. The Rupandehi District Police Office has confirmed that further investigation is ongoing regarding the incident. Additionally, police have also arrested two Indian nationals on suspicion of drug trafficking in the Gaushala-Pingalasthan area of Kathmandu, following gunfire by law enforcement.
