
The world-renowned Japanese karate apparel company ‘Suraido’ has officially sponsored karate athlete Erika Gurung. Gurung has been provided with four sets of karate uniforms, one bag, four shin guards, four belts, four pairs of gloves, and five t-shirts. National karate team coach Kushal Shrestha expressed confidence that the sponsorship would significantly boost the athlete’s morale.
Kathmandu, 7 April – The famous Japanese karate gear manufacturer ‘Suraido’ has formally sponsored Nepal’s historic medal-winning karate athlete Erika Gurung. She has become the first Nepalese athlete to receive such an opportunity from this company. Under the sponsorship, she has been supplied with four sets of karate uniforms, one bag, four shin guards, four belts, four pairs of gloves, and five t-shirts. The agreement has been made for two years, with the company promising to provide similar equipment each year.
According to national karate team head coach Kushal Shrestha, international support of this nature will enhance athletes’ confidence and positively impact their performance. Sponsorship from a globally recognized brand like Suraido is considered a significant achievement for the Nepalese karate community, reflecting growing international interest in Nepalese athletes. Coach Shrestha, who personally initiated the sponsorship, believes such collaborations will increase opportunities for more Nepalese athletes on the international stage and play a crucial role in the development and promotion of karate within Nepal.
