Trump Replaces Netanyahu-Linked Envoy, Appoints JD Vance to Lead Iran Negotiations

March 24, Kathmandu — A significant diplomatic shift has occurred in efforts to end the ongoing conflict between the United States and Iran. According to the Iranian media outlet Fars, US President Donald Trump has removed his special envoy Steve Witkoff and proposed that Vice President JD Vance take over the primary responsibility for the negotiations. Witkoff’s close ties to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had raised suspicions in Iran regarding him, prompting this change to address Iranian concerns and intensify the negotiations.

An official from Tehran indicated that the Trump administration is eager to secure a swift agreement. The ongoing conflict has raised fears that fuel prices on the global market could surge dramatically starting next week. President Trump, via the social media platform Truth Social, set a deadline for Iran at 8:00 PM tonight. He warned that if Iran does not agree to open the Strait of Hormuz and reach an agreement by that time, severe attacks on Iran’s energy centers and physical infrastructure will follow.
