March 8, Kathmandu — WhatsApp has launched a significant update for Apple CarPlay, designed to help drivers manage important messages and calls more easily while maintaining focus on the road.

After extensive testing, WhatsApp has made this feature available to all users. Previously, WhatsApp usage within CarPlay was limited and largely dependent on voice commands. With this update, a well-organized interface similar to the phone’s display will now be visible directly on the car’s screen.

Following the update, drivers can view recent chat lists and call history straight from the car’s display. Additionally, a separate section titled ‘Favorite Contacts’ has been added for frequently contacted individuals.

New ‘quick buttons’ enable users to make calls with a single tap or dictate and send messages via voice commands. This aims to make interactions safer and more convenient by minimizing driver distraction from the road.

Requirements for Using WhatsApp in the Car:

  • Users need an iPhone 5 or a newer model.

  • The iPhone must run iOS 16.4 or a later version.

  • WhatsApp must be updated to the latest version from the App Store.

  • Siri must be enabled on the iPhone, and WhatsApp should not be locked with Face ID or Touch ID.

  • The vehicle must support Apple CarPlay.

How to Use?

After connecting your iPhone to the car’s system, the WhatsApp icon will appear on the car’s screen.

If the icon does not appear, go to iPhone Settings > General > CarPlay, select your car, and customize the menu to place WhatsApp at the top.

You will then be able to answer calls and reply to messages directly from the car’s display.
