Traffic Police Penalize 1,719 Drivers for Violating Rules in 24 Hours, Collect Nearly Rs. 1.2 Million in Revenue

Kathmandu, 28 Chaitra — In the past 24 hours, traffic police have penalized 1,719 drivers for violating traffic regulations. According to the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, among those penalized, 113 drivers were caught driving under the influence of intoxicants, 35 vehicles were found to be mechanically unfit, 102 drivers violated traffic signal rules, 93 were driving at excessive speeds, 179 failed to maintain lane discipline, and 38 drivers operated public transport vehicles unsafely.

Additionally, 46 drivers were penalized for unnecessary horn usage, 20 for picking up or dropping off passengers outside designated areas, and 1,093 for other various traffic violations. The traffic enforcement generated total revenue amounting to Rs. 1,184,500, which has been deposited into the state treasury, the office stated.
