
Two industries in Birtamod Municipality-4, Jhapa, experienced a severe fire this morning. The blaze caused significant damage, estimated at around one crore rupees, to Jhapaali Chips Factory and Sougat Wooden Furniture. The fire was brought under control by teams from the Birtamod Police Station and the Armed Police Force base camp at Shanishchare, and investigations are ongoing. Report dated 1 Baisakh, Jhapa.
According to Khagendra Bahadur Khadka, spokesperson for the District Police Office, the fire broke out at approximately 4:15 a.m. simultaneously at Jhapaali Chips Factory, operated by Bhaktiprasad Upreti, and Sougat Wooden Furniture, owned by Chandraprasad Kharel. Preliminary investigations indicate that the fire destroyed raw materials, finished goods, and machinery parts at both factories, resulting in substantial economic losses valued at around one crore rupees.
The fire was controlled with the assistance of the Birtamod Police Station, the Armed Police Force base camp at Shanishchare, fire management teams from Birtamod, Bhadrapur, and Mechinagar municipalities, along with local residents. Authorities have not yet determined the exact cause of the fire and have stated that further investigations are underway.
