Financial literacy advocate Prakash Koirala has been awarded the 2025 Governor’s Financial Literacy Award. The Governor of Wisconsin, Tony Evers, presented this honor to Koirala in recognition of his contributions to promoting financial literacy in the private sector. During the award ceremony, Governor Evers emphasized that financial education equips individuals with essential tools to achieve their goals and ensure economic security.

This year, a total of 10 individuals and 11 organizations received awards. Koirala was recognized specifically for his personal efforts in advancing financial literacy. Even while residing in the Canadian region of Kamloops, Governor Evers acknowledged the impactful work Koirala has done to enhance financial awareness and literacy in Wisconsin.

At the ceremony, Governor Evers stated that financial education provides individuals with the necessary tools to accomplish their objectives, create new opportunities, and safeguard their family’s financial well-being. The awards this year were categorized into three groups, honoring 10 individuals including Prakash Koirala in the personal sector, and 11 community and financial institutions in the organizational category.

The recipients were selected by the Governor’s Council on Financial Literacy and Capability. Winners were chosen based on innovative financial initiatives introduced in the past two years, measurable achievements, partnerships, and program effectiveness. Wisconsin’s Department of Financial Institutions expressed confidence that this recognition will further encourage financial literacy campaigns across the state and inspire residents to achieve economic self-reliance.
