Mandala Theatre to Conduct Free Theatre Production Workshop for Ages 18 to 35

Mandala Theatre is set to organize a free theatre production process workshop for 15 young theatre artists aged between 18 and 35. Actively promoting Nepali theatre, the organization issued a notice on Wednesday inviting applications from interested youth. The workshop specifically targets 15 young theatre practitioners within this age group. Applicants must have experience working in at least two plays to be eligible to participate.
This six-week workshop will offer participants the opportunity to learn the entire theatre production process under the direct guidance of experienced theatre professionals. Mandala Theatre highlighted that the program will focus on developing specialized skills in acting, directing, set and costume design, lighting, sound/music, promotion, and documentation. The first three weeks will emphasize basic training and the initial stages of production.
The workshop’s main outcome will be the creation of a play addressing youth-related issues, which will be regularly staged at Mandala Theatre’s ‘Small Hall.’ Participants will receive free training, snacks, certificates, and practical experience working in a professional theatre environment. Revenue from ticket sales will be managed transparently. After deducting hall rental and production costs from the initial income, the remaining profit will be distributed with 60 percent going to Mandala Theatre and 40 percent shared among the participating artists and production team.
The workshop will run from Jestha 1 to Asar 5 according to the Nepali calendar, operating Sunday through Friday from 12 noon to 5 pm. Interested theatre artists must submit their applications by Baisakh 22, 2083. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for the second stage of the selection process.
