Nepali Team Departs for Japan to Compete in 22nd Wata Open International Taekwondo Championship

The Nepali team has departed for Japan to participate in the 22nd Wata Open International Taekwondo Championship. The competition will take place from April 24 to 26, 2026, at the Ohama Arena in Osaka city, Japan, with four athletes representing Nepal. The team was formally sent off from their homeland in a special program by Hemant Dangi, General Secretary of the Nepal Taekwondo Association, and Kumar Lama Ghising, a board member of the National Sports Council.

At the championship, Aravi Gyawali from Little Bud School will compete in the Under-9 category in Individual Poomsae (Female). Bishesh Chandra Gami from Hog Au Taekwondo Dojang will compete in the Under-11 Individual Poomsae (Male), alongside Shreyan Karki from Gongbu Taekwondo Dojang, who also competes in the Under-11 Individual Poomsae (Male). Ayusha Karki will participate in the -49 kg Kyorugi (Female) category. The team’s head coach is Saroj Tamang (Gongbu Taekwondo Dojang), who is also involved with Little Bud School Kirtipur, Tyanglafant, Shangrila School Imadol, Lalitpur. Rushma Subedi serves as the team manager.
