Heavy Rain Causes Flooding in Jaleshwar, Mahottari

Following a thunderstorm accompanied by hail on April 25, the market areas of Jaleshwar in Mahottari district have been severely flooded. The town’s intersections and roads have been submerged, causing disruptions to pedestrian movement and vehicle traffic. Locals report that the flooding has worsened due to inadequate drainage systems, with water filling both government and non-government office premises.

On April 25 in Mahottari, intense rain accompanied by hail and strong winds has left the district headquarters, Jaleshwar, extensively waterlogged. Critical areas such as Jaleshwar Municipality Chowk, Shankar Chowk, Meena Bazaar, Mahendra Chowk, Hospital Chowk, and Khaira Chowk are flooded due to insufficient water drainage. Major roads within the town have become impassable on foot, and operating vehicles has become challenging, according to residents. Additionally, water has infiltrated office complexes in the area, both governmental and non-governmental. The persistent lack of proper drainage management in Jaleshwar results in market areas flooding even during moderate rainfalls.
