Federal Government Advised to Avoid Unnecessary Use of Bulldozers in Local Area

April 30, Tehrathum – The 16th Village Assembly and Winter Session of Chhathar Rural Municipality in Tehrathum has resolved to recommend that the federal government refrain from unnecessarily deploying bulldozers within its jurisdiction. This decision was made during the assembly held at the historic and cultural site of Taklunggadhi in Chhathar-5, according to the municipality chairperson, Santosh Tigela. He stated, “The housing structures in the municipality are built following the official government survey maps, so the use of bulldozers is not necessary there.”

Chairperson Tigela added that the recommendation aims to protect settlements and limit unwarranted physical interference by the federal government. The assembly prioritized various programs focused on essential sectors such as education, employment, infrastructure, and drinking water. Additionally, it decided to collect data on residents who are currently unemployed across government, non-governmental, foreign, and private sectors.

The Village Assembly also established a policy mandating the compulsory enrollment of all children born since October 19, 2006, who have not completed grade 8 into schools. To address the drinking water crisis, both immediate and long-term strategies were proposed. These include continuing operations of deep boring, requesting budget for the initiation of the Tamor lifting project, and maintaining the Kansuwa and Sakha lifting schemes.

Regarding road infrastructure, the assembly decided to request the provincial government to blacktop the road connecting Sukrabare, Shanischare, and Hakpara. Further demands include road construction projects connecting Okhre to Myanglung; Sukrabare to Khaireeni; Dagpa to Phulek to Basantapur; Shidhuwa to Andim to Sukrabare; and Dhankuta to Parewadin to Fokche Sirang, with the aim of linking them all to Myanglung. These demands and recommendations have been formally submitted to the provincial government.
