
In Bedkot Municipality-5 of Kanchanpur, an 11-year-old boy was tied up and beaten on suspicion of stealing a melon. The boy sustained a head injury requiring three stitches, and the accused, Bhoj Nath, has been arrested by the police. The District Police Office of Kanchanpur is conducting an investigation into the torture incident. (April 30, Kathmandu)
The boy had gone to the field searching for a cricket ball. While looking for the ball, he was accused of stealing the melon. After a video of the incident went viral on social media, there was widespread condemnation of the individual who tortured the boy. According to police, the boy had lost his cricket ball in the farmland and went there to retrieve it.
The accused, 37-year-old Bhoj Nath, was arrested following the incident. Police report that due to Nath’s assault, the boy suffered a head injury that required three stitches. Deputy Superintendent of Police Hem Bahadur Shahi of Kanchanpur stated that the investigation against Nath is ongoing. The boy’s parents are laborers working in India, and he is currently living with his grandmother.
