Kathmandu – Amidst speculation about the next chairman of the Film Development Board, actor and writer Khagendra Lamichhane has firmly stated that he does not have any interest in assuming the post.

Responding to reports spreading on social media suggesting he will become the board’s chairman, he affirmed that he will continue to remain active in the fields of art and literature.

In an appeal posted on Facebook, Khagendra expressed that his heart would never abandon literature and art for another path. He recalled his entry into the film world through writing and theater and stated his desire to dedicate his life to this field.

He disclosed that recently videos and posters proclaiming “Khagendra Lamichhane as the next chairman of the Film Development Board” have been circulating on social media. He mentioned receiving numerous congratulatory calls and messages thereafter and felt honored to have the trust of his colleagues and seniors.

However, he expressed disappointment over unnecessary discussions about a matter he is not interested in, questioning how such discussions gained traction. He urged everyone not to prioritize such publicity.

Khagendra said he continues to be actively involved in the film industry as an artist, writer, producer, and director, and has been working proactively for the betterment of the film sector and producers for several years.

He mentioned that although his father wanted him to become a college professor, he chose to be an artist and writer, concluding, “I followed what my heart told me.”

After the government abolished political appointments through an ordinance, three officials of the Central Film Censor Board have been dismissed. The executive committee of the Film Development Board remains unchanged. The current chairman, Dinesh DC, will remain in office until the upcoming Bhadra (Nepali month).
