Landless Farmers Protest for Land and Housing Rights in Lamahi, Dang

In Lamahi, Dang, landless farmers staged a protest demanding the guarantee of their land and housing rights. Participants held placards reading “Stop Forced Evictions, Ensure Land and Housing Rights.” The landless, squatters, and informal settlers urged the government to put an end to forced evictions and establish secure housing arrangements.

On April 23, in Butwal, landless farmers in Lamahi, Dang protested against government actions, calling for the protection of their land and housing rights. Various groups organized rallies and gatherings where demonstrators displayed banners and placards bearing slogans such as “Stop Forced Evictions, Ensure Land and Housing Rights.” The rally saw significant participation from residents across several parts of Dang.

The event was organized by the Landless, Squatters, Informal Settlers, Guthi, Mohi, and Mukta Kamiya Struggle Committee of Dang-Deukhuri. Protesters from Lamahi Municipality, Rapti Rural Municipality, Gadhwa Rural Municipality, and Rajpur Rural Municipality came together to demand solutions to their longstanding problems. They strongly called on the government to halt forced evictions, provide secure housing, and guarantee their land and housing rights.
