During the Law Day event on Saturday, Sushila Karki expressed dissatisfaction over being called ‘mother’. After the Constitutional Council recommended Dr. Manojkumar Sharma, ranked fourth, for the Chief Justice position, Karki voiced her discontent. She criticized the government for not recommending acting Chief Justice Sapana Pradhan Malla, calling it a major mistake. Kathmandu, 26th Baishakh.
While attending the event at the National Assembly Hall in Kathmandu, journalist Diwakar Sah addressed her as ‘mother’. Questioning this, Karki asked, ‘Who called me mother?’ Sah replied, ‘I did.’ Displaying anger, Karki said, ‘Your own mother has changed.’
Sah then said, ‘It does not matter, a mother does not change,’ turning the microphone toward her. Karki requested not to be called ‘mother’ but instead to refer to Prime Minister Balen Shah’s wife, Savina Kafle, as ‘mother.’ She stated, ‘From now on, call Balen’s wife mother.’ When Sah tried again to say, ‘You are the mother of the nation,’ Karki rejected it firmly, saying, ‘No, no.’ Sah has published this video on his Facebook page, which has now gone viral on social media.
