
The Kaabha Women’s Volleyball Championship is set to take place from May 21 to May 28 at the Dasarath Rangasala Covered Hall in Kathmandu. The trophy for the tournament was unveiled by the Nepal Volleyball Association on Sunday. Eight teams, including Nepal, will participate in the event. The total budget for the championship is NPR 25 million, with NPR 10 million contributed by the Government of Nepal and NPR 3 million from Kathmandu Metropolitan City.
Kathmandu, April 10 — The trophy for the Kaabha Women’s Volleyball Championship, which begins in Kathmandu on May 21, was officially revealed by the Nepal Volleyball Association in a ceremony held on Sunday. The unveiling was conducted by Nepal Volleyball Association President Jitendra Bahadur Chand, Executive Director of Himalaya TV Shyam Kandel, and Head of the National Sports Council’s Finance Department Rishiram Pokharel, among others.
Eight teams, including the host nation Nepal, will compete in the championship. Roshan Shrestha, General Secretary of the Volleyball Association, noted the fortunate coincidence that the tournament will commence on Nepal Volleyball Day. He stated, “We have previously celebrated Nepal Volleyball Day with various events. This time, by coincidence, the Kaabha Women’s Volleyball Championship will start on that very day, May 21.”
President Chand informed that preparations have begun with a squad of 20 players, 16 of whom are currently in training. Since this championship is an FIVB World Ranking event, the Nepal Volleyball Association expressed confidence that a strong performance will improve the women’s team’s international ranking. The tournament will be broadcast live by Himalayan Sports.
