Irregularities in Consumer Committee Plans and Employee Transfers in Madhesh

The Tourism Development Office in Gaur announced on April 27 that all letters related to the consumer committee have been canceled due to administrative reasons. Chief officer Babita Jaiswal informed that letters of the consumer committee, including two unauthorized registration receipts, were distributed without proper authorization. Nagendra Sah, a Congress member of parliament from Rautahat, has sent letters to the Chief Minister’s office and ministries urging that his constituency’s plans be implemented through an open competitive process.
The notice declaring the cancellation of all letters issued on April 27 for the formation of consumer committees was released publicly. Jaiswal stated, “All previous letters are now invalid due to administrative and technical reasons, therefore no action should be taken based on them.” She clarified that the letters were canceled due to unauthorized distribution and fraud.
The Tourism Development Office Gaur, under the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Tourism of Madhesh Province, covers Rautahat and Sarlahi districts. Over 700 projects are currently being operated under the Rautahat tourism office. However, all agencies in Madhesh are not free from irregularities and fraud related to consumer committees. This has severely damaged the reputation of Madhesh Province.
MP Nagendra Sah of Rautahat said, “Even if the budget is low, tenders should be conducted; contractors are willing to work at lower rates.” He argued that many projects under the Madhesh government have yet to be implemented, and the work should not be halted on the excuse of insufficient budget.
