Netanyahu Affirms War Against Hezbollah Will Continue Despite Deal with Iran

April 28, Kathmandu – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has made it clear that Israel is not willing to halt military actions against the Shiite militia Hezbollah, which is active in Lebanon. In an interview with CBS News, he stated that any agreement by the US and Israel to end the war with Iran would not include stopping the fight against Hezbollah.

When asked whether Israel would agree to end hostilities with Hezbollah as part of a peace deal with Iran, Netanyahu categorically said “no.” However, he did not comment on how Israel would respond if US President Donald Trump were to request such a demand.

Prime Minister Netanyahu asserted that the core issue of regional security is Iran. He claimed that weakening Iran’s power or a fundamental change in its regime would be the basis for ending other armed groups. He expressed confidence that if Iran became significantly weaker or underwent regime change, militant networks such as Hezbollah, Hamas, and the Houthi rebels in Yemen would collapse on their own. Netanyahu’s latest remarks indicate that the ongoing tension along the Lebanese border is unlikely to be resolved in the near term.
