Umesh Rai, 33, from Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality-12 in Khotang, has been arrested by police in Kathmandu. The Kaski court had sentenced him to life imprisonment on the charge of murder on January 8, 2025. Umesh Rai had escaped from Kaski prison during the Jan Andolan movement. After his arrest, he has been sent to the Central Jail Sundhara.
On April 12, Kathmandu – Umesh Rai, who was sentenced to life imprisonment, has been apprehended by the police. The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) carried out his arrest. Umesh Rai was initially detained on December 12, 2024, in connection with a murder case. The Kaski court had delivered the life sentence on January 8, 2025. Following his arrest in Kathmandu, Umesh Rai has been transferred to Central Jail Sundhara, according to the CIB.
