Budget for Fiscal Year to Prioritize Middle Class and Infrastructure Development

The government is preparing to announce the budget for the upcoming fiscal year on May 28, focusing on infrastructure development and the middle class. Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle has stated that the budget will emphasize good governance, improving digital services, anti-corruption campaigns, and economic reforms. The government has identified five priorities in the budget, including legal reforms, public service improvement, small farmer protection, and strategic infrastructure projects. (April 13, Kathmandu)
The government has indicated that the upcoming budget will accelerate infrastructure development and place the middle class at its center. Presenting the principles and priorities of the 2083 Appropriation Bill in the National Assembly, Finance Minister Dr. Wagle outlined this approach. The government has set five principles and five priorities which will guide the formation of the upcoming fiscal year’s budget. The constitutional provision requires the budget to be published by May 28.
Minister Dr. Wagle has emphasized that the next budget will focus on ensuring fast and reliable public services that save citizens time, effort, and cost. Through administrative reforms based on integrated digital governance, delays, hassles, and unwanted intermediaries in service delivery will be eliminated. The government will also make the investigation and prosecution system effective in combating corruption, focusing on asset purification, revenue leakage, misuse of public resources, and organized crime during the forthcoming fiscal year, according to the Finance Minister.
