Khadka Bahadur Khadka finished second, while Mukesh Bahadur Pal took third place; they received cash prizes of NPR 40,000 and NPR 30,000 respectively. The organizers reported enthusiastic participation from runners across the country and plan to continue hosting such events in the future.
May 15, Kathmandu: Rajan Rokaya from the Nepalese Army clinched the title at the 10K NYFN Run competition organized to mark the 37th foundation day of the National Youth Union Nepal. The event was held on Friday in Kathmandu, where Rokaya completed the designated 10-kilometer course in 29 minutes and 56.9 seconds to emerge as the winner. Khadka Bahadur Khadka secured second place with a time of 30 minutes and 26.7 seconds, while Mukesh Bahadur Pal finished third, clocking 31 minutes and 00.2 seconds. The race started and concluded at Dashrath Rangashala in Tripureshwor.
Participants displayed excellent competitive spirit throughout the event. Sanjay Shrestha completed the race in 31 minutes and 07.4 seconds, earning fourth place, while Sushil Shahi ranked fifth with a time of 32 minutes and 07.6 seconds. Rajan, the winner, was awarded a cash prize of NPR 50,000, with Khadka receiving NPR 40,000, Mukesh NPR 30,000, Sanjay NPR 20,000, and Sushil NPR 10,000.
Olympian and record-breaking runner Baikuntha Manandhar attended the event as the chief guest of the 10K NYFN Run. The competition aimed to increase youth interest in sports and promote a healthy lifestyle. The organizers highlighted the enthusiastic participation of athletes from across the nation. During the closing ceremony, organizers emphasized that sports play a vital role in developing discipline, energy, and responsible citizenship among young people. National Youth Union Nepal intends to continue organizing similar events to unite youth through sports. The program was also attended by notable figures from social, political, and sports sectors. Organizers believe that the competition fostered a sports-friendly environment in the capital and strengthened the culture of running among the younger generation.
