Prime Minister Balendra’s Facebook Post Boosts Interest in DDC Products

After Prime Minister Balendra Shah posted a photo of himself enjoying DDC cheese on his Facebook page, there has been a surge of discussion on social media. The Dairy Development Corporation (DDC) produces and markets a variety of dairy products including milk, yogurt, ghee, cheese, and paneer, sourcing milk from thousands of farmers. Consumers trust DDC products due to their strict quality control, adherence to government standards, and transparency.

Currently, DDC offers a wide range of dairy products such as milk, yogurt, ghee, cheese, and paneer across the market. The corporation collects milk from thousands of dairy farmers and processes it into various products. DDC’s portfolio also includes blue packet, green packet, yellow ‘Cow Milk,’ double-toned tea milk, cheese, paneer, butter, yogurt, lassi, curd, ice cream, and saffron milk.

According to Sanjib Jha, head of the Marketing Department, the key reasons for consumers’ trust in DDC products are the quality control systems, strict compliance with government standards, and transparency in the production process. “Being a government-operated institution under the Nepalese government, DDC strictly follows the food hygiene guidelines and the Food Act issued by the Food Technology and Quality Control Department,” he explained.

In the Kathmandu Valley alone, daily milk distribution reaches between 65,000 to 70,000 liters, a quantity significantly larger than that of the private sector. Jha also highlighted DDC’s unique “No Return Policy,” which emphasizes the organization’s commitment to delivering fresh and safe products to consumers. Due to its rigorous quality control, government oversight, and longstanding consumer trust, DDC has established itself as a prominent and reliable brand in Nepal’s dairy market.
