China-Russia Space Collaboration: New Agreement on Satellite Navigation Systems

China and Russia have agreed to cooperate in the field of space exploration. This understanding was established during the meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping held in Beijing. The joint statement issued after the meeting of the two leaders highlighted that both sides aim to deepen practical cooperation in space by jointly working on the International Lunar Research Station.

Furthermore, the two countries have planned to strengthen mutually beneficial collaboration in satellite navigation. Under this agreement, a complementary coordination and partnership will be ensured between Russia’s space-based satellite navigation and positioning system ‘GLONASS’ and China’s ‘BeiDou’ navigation system.
