USA Climbs Back to Top After Defeating Scotland in ICC Cricket World Cup League 2

The United States reclaimed the top spot in the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 by defeating Scotland by six wickets. Chasing a target of 170 set by Scotland, the US reached the total at 27.1 overs with four wickets down. The American team is scheduled to play Nepal on Friday, aiming for their first league victory. In the match held on Wednesday, the US secured a decisive six-wicket win over Scotland, propelling them back to the top of the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 standings. The US chased Scotland’s target of 170 runs in 27.1 overs, losing four wickets in the process. Smit Patel and Shayan Jahangir each scored 37 runs, while Saiteja Mukkamalla contributed 35 runs. Milind Kumar remained unbeaten on 24 runs.
For Scotland, Jack Jarvis, Oliver Davidson, and Michael Lisk each took one wicket. Scotland won the toss and elected to bat first but were bowled out for 169 runs in 43.3 overs. Mark Watt was the top scorer with 66 runs, dismissed as the last wicket. Although Scotland started strongly, their batting faltered in the middle overs. Brandon McMullen added 32 runs, Matthew Cross scored 20, and Finn McKerrith made 19 runs.
From the US bowling attack, Rushil Ugarakar was impressive, taking four wickets for 48 runs in 8.3 overs. Saurabh Netravalkar picked up three wickets, Shubham Ranjane took two, and Harmit Singh claimed one wicket. Scotland had won their first two league matches but lost the subsequent two, while this marked the US team’s first win. Following this victory, the USA has accumulated 38 points from 27 matches. Although Scotland also has 38 points from 32 matches, they lie second due to a lower net run rate. The US squad is now preparing to face Nepal on Friday.
