Russia and China Agree on Key Terms for ‘Power of Siberia 2’ Pipeline Project

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov announced that Russia and China have reached an agreement on the main parameters and route of the ‘Power of Siberia 2’ project. This initiative envisions the supply of 50 billion cubic meters of gas annually from Russia’s Arctic and Siberian regions to China via Mongolia. Peskov noted that “some minor details remain to be finalized” and highlighted that the project’s capacity can be compared to the Nord Stream 2 pipeline. Kathmandu, June 6.
According to Peskov’s statement to RT, Moscow and Beijing have agreed on the principal parameters, route, and construction aspects of the ‘Power of Siberia 2’ project. “Some small details still need to be aligned,” he added. Proposed for nearly two decades, this project aims to deliver an additional 50 billion cubic meters of gas per year from Russia’s Arctic and Siberian areas through Mongolia to China. Its capacity is comparable to the 55 billion cubic meters annual capacity of the damaged Nord Stream 2 pipeline.
