NATO Closely Monitoring Russia’s Nuclear Drills: Secretary General Mark Rutte

North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Secretary General Mark Rutte stated that NATO is closely monitoring Russia’s nuclear exercises. However, he emphasized that they will refrain from making any public comments on the matter. Speaking at a press conference in Brussels ahead of NATO foreign ministers’ meetings scheduled in Sweden on May 21–22, Rutte said, ‘We are definitely following and watching what is happening, and that is about it.’

Previous reports indicated that the Russian Armed Forces had planned to conduct nuclear force deployment exercises from May 19 to 21, in response to potential offensive threats.
