Explosion on Railway Track Near Chaman Gate in Quetta, Pakistan Kills 20

An explosion on the railway track near Chaman Gate in Quetta, Pakistan, has resulted in the deaths of 20 people, with over 70 others injured. The incident occurred on Sunday, causing three carriages of the train to derail, while two others overturned. Eyewitnesses reported that the blast was so powerful that many vehicles parked near the railway track were damaged, and nearby houses were also affected. Following the explosion, military and police personnel were deployed to the scene.

Officials have yet to provide details on the cause of the explosion or confirm the exact number of casualties. Railway Minister Muhammad Hanif Abbasi strongly condemned the incident, stating, “The shuttle train coming from Quetta Cantt was targeted by an explosion near Chaman Gate.” He further added that the blast caused three coaches, including the engine, to derail, and caused two additional coaches to overturn.
