Nepal Defeats Maldives to Advance to Semifinals in KAVA Women’s Volleyball Championship

Nepal secured a spot in the semifinals of the KAVA Women’s Volleyball Championship by defeating the Maldives in straight sets in their final group match. With this consecutive victory, Nepal accumulated 7 points from three matches, clinching the top position in Group ‘A’. From Group ‘B’, Kazakhstan and Iran also advanced to the semifinals with back-to-back wins.

On June 23, in Kathmandu, Nepal defeated the Maldives 25-12, 25-9, 25-20 in a straight-set victory in their last Group ‘A’ match on Sunday. This win confirmed Nepal’s place among the final four. India currently holds second place with 5 points from two matches, while Kyrgyzstan is third with 3 points. The second semifinalist from this group will be determined following Monday’s match between India and Kyrgyzstan.

The Maldives have been eliminated from the tournament after losing all three of their group matches. Nepal had lost their opening match to India 3-2 but secured their first win by defeating Kyrgyzstan 3-0 in their second game. In that match, Elisha Manandhar made her debut, entering the court as a substitute in the second set.

From Group ‘B’, Kazakhstan and Iran also earned semifinal berths. Kazakhstan defeated Bangladesh 3-0, while Iran beat Sri Lanka 3-0. On Monday, Kazakhstan and Iran will face each other to decide the group winner and runner-up positions.
