Chief Administrative Officer of the municipality, Pramod Khanal, and Chief Tax Officer of the Inland Revenue Office in Krishnanagar, Krishnaprasad Nyaupane, signed an agreement to this effect. Previously, taxpayers had to travel to Krishnanagar, Kapilvastu, to access general tax services, but this inconvenience has now ended for more than 3,500 taxpayers in Sandhikhark.
With over 3,500 taxpayers residing in Sandhikhark Municipality, the introduction of tax-related services locally has been met with enthusiasm as residents anticipate easier, faster, and hassle-free service. The service was inaugurated at an event organized by the municipality where Mayor Krishnaprasad Shrestha officially launched the program by reading the banner. The signing of the agreement and declaration of the office’s opening was jointly conducted by Chief Administrative Officer Pramod Khanal and Chief Tax Officer Krishnaprasad Nyaupane.
On the occasion of the inauguration, Rajan Acharya, Director of Kasturi Agro Resort and Events Pvt. Ltd., was presented with a Permanent Account Number (PAN) registration certificate. The certificate was handed over by Chief Administrative Officer Pramod Khanal in the presence of Mayor Krishnaprasad Shrestha and Deputy Mayor Mishra Acharya, formally marking the start of tax services. Mayor Shrestha stated that the local government’s objective is to deliver services directly to citizens at their doorsteps through this tax service initiative.
He highlighted that citizens no longer need to travel far to avail themselves of general tax services, and emphasized that in the near future the municipality plans to expand the services with technology-friendly, fast, and effective delivery. Chief Tax Officer Krishnaprasad Nyaupane explained that tax services will now be made even simpler, more transparent, and efficient through technological means. He also informed that, based on a government cabinet decision, service units providing income tax services have been dissolved and such services will now be managed directly by local governments.
Chief Administrative Officer Pramod Khanal expressed confidence that the commencement of local tax services will further strengthen citizens’ trust in the municipality. He added that the municipality aims to organize service delivery more systematically and create a taxpayer-friendly environment. Previously, taxpayers had to travel to Krishnanagar, Kapilvastu, to access general tax services, but now, with services available locally, there will be significant relief. The tax service office, operated by the municipality for the first time, is expected to directly benefit businesspeople, industrialists, and the general public. It is anticipated that operating tax services at the local government level will also reinforce citizen-friendly governance systems.
