
A car accident occurred on Thursday evening in Gurjebhanyang, Ward No. 6 of Shivapuri Rural Municipality, Nuwakot, resulting in the death of 35-year-old Sanjivkumar Chaudhary from Siraha. Two others, Utsav Pokharel from Sunsari and Lokesh Mishra from Kathmandu, sustained serious injuries and are currently undergoing treatment at Grandee Hospital in Kathmandu. According to police reports, the electric car traveling from Dhikure to Kathmandu lost control and fell approximately 150 meters off the road.
According to Vinod Dhakal, Chief Inspector of the District Traffic Police Office in Nuwakot, the accident took place along the Chahare-Tokha road section near Gurjebhanyang in Ward No. 6 of Shivapuri Rural Municipality. The vehicle involved, a jeep, was occupied by Sanjivkumar Chaudhary of Sukhipuri-2 in Siraha, who succumbed to his injuries shortly after being admitted to Grandee Hospital. His identity was confirmed through his driver’s license.
Providing details of the injured, Superintendent of Police Bipin Regmi, Chief of the District Police Office, Nuwakot, stated that 40-year-old Utsav Pokharel from Inaruwa Municipality-5, Sunsari, and 44-year-old Lokesh Mishra from Gaurighat, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-9, are currently receiving treatment at Grandee Hospital. The accident site is located near Gurjebhanyang, Ward No. 6, Shivapuri Rural Municipality, along the Chahare-Tokha road, where the electric vehicle (registration BEI 0569) went out of control and plunged roughly 150 meters down. Local residents quickly assisted in rescuing the injured from the forested and dark area, after which they were transported to Kathmandu for medical care.
Meanwhile, Minister of Information and Communications, Bikram Timilsina, expressed deep sorrow over the fatal accident in Nuwakot, which resulted in one death and two serious injuries. He paid tribute to the late Sanjivkumar Chaudhary and extended condolences to his grieving family on behalf of the ministry. He also wished a speedy recovery for the injured, Pokharel and Mishra. Additionally, Minister Timilsina urged the public not to use the distressing images shared on social media following the accident.
