May 29, Kathmandu – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has directed the military to seize additional areas in Gaza. According to news agency Reuters, Netanyahu stated that the initial goal is to gain control over 70 percent of Palestinian territory. This move by Israel is being viewed as a violation of the ceasefire agreement made with Hamas in October 2025.
Gaza has been confined to a small area along the Mediterranean coast. It is estimated that Israel already controls about 64 percent of the Gaza Strip. The two-year Israeli military operation, which began after Hamas attacked southern Israel in 2023, has reduced much of the small coastal enclave to ruins.
