Addressing the National Best Farmer Award and Prize Distribution Ceremony held at the Presidential Palace on Friday, Ashok Kumar Chaudhary, Chairperson of the Agriculture, Cooperative, and Natural Resources Committee of the House of Representatives, emphasized that bolstering the national economy through agricultural production is a key government priority. He stated that the government is advancing with the goal of developing agriculture not only as a traditional occupation but as a respected, modern, and professional sector.

“The geographical diversity of the Himalayas, hills, and plains provides us with immense potential in agriculture. With modern technology, scientific management, and effective implementation, Nepal can become not only self-reliant but also a capable nation in agricultural exports,” he said. “The government has been continuously committed to this cause. It is moving forward with the aim of developing agriculture as a respected, modern, and professional occupation, rather than just a traditional livelihood.”

Highlighting Nepal’s unparalleled potential in agriculture due to its geographical diversity, he noted that agricultural production can be increased through modern technology, scientific management, and effective execution. “I would like to inform that stopping the youth exodus abroad, creating employment within rural areas, and strengthening the national economy through production are among the government’s highest priorities. The state’s policy is to honor farmers based on their production, not merely on grants,” he added.
