Employee Organization Affiliated with Nepal Communist Party Condemns PM Balendra’s Land Statement as Treasonous

May 31, Kathmandu — The employee organization allied with the Nepal Communist Party has labeled Prime Minister Balendra Shah’s recent remarks on territorial issues as treasonous. The Nepal National Employee Organization, affiliated with the Communist Party, expressed its opposition on Sunday to the Prime Minister’s statements regarding Nepal–India border concerns made in the House of Representatives.

Ambadatta Bhatt, president of the organization, emphasized the need to understand what constitutes international land encroachment or occupation. According to him, when a country physically occupies and expands its boundaries into land owned by another country without mutual agreement or legal right, it is considered international land encroachment or occupation.

He noted that in several locations along the Nepal–India border — including Limpiyadhura, Lipulekh, and Susta — the Indian side has unilaterally encroached upon or occupied Nepali territory. He characterized the Prime Minister’s remarks as contradictory to these facts.

He stated, “Interpreting the exchange or usage of land arising during the international boundary demarcation process as land encroachment or occupation, irrespective of which responsible individual or institution makes such claims, is an act against the nation’s sovereignty and geographical integrity. No one should make such statements or attempt to cover them up; both actions would be unconstitutional and treasonous.”
