
Uruguay’s head coach Marcelo Bielsa announced the national team squad for the FIFA World Cup 2026 on Sunday night. The announced squad includes captain Federico Valverde, experienced defender Jose Maria Gimenez, and goalkeeper Fernando Muslera. Midfielder Giorgian De Arrascaeta, returning from injury, has also been included in the team.
Uruguay is set to compete in the group stage of the World Cup 2026 with top-notch preparation. The selected players include goalkeepers Santiago Mele and Fernando Muslera; defenders Sergio Rochet, Ronald Araujo, Santiago Bueno, Sebastian Caceres, Mathias Olivera, and Joaquin Piquerez; midfielders Guillermo Varela, Mathias Vina, Maximiliano Araujo, Giorgian De Arrascaeta, Rodrigo Bentancur, Agustin Canobbio, Nicolas De La Cruz, Emiliano Martinez, Facundo Pellistri, Brian Rodriguez, Juan Manuel Sanabria, Manuel Ugarte, Federico Valverde, and Rodrigo Zalazar; and forwards Rodrigo Aguirre, Federico Vinas, and Darwin Nunez.
