Potato Prices Surge by 32% in One Month

According to the Kalimati Fruit and Vegetable Market Development Committee, the prices of potatoes and onions have increased in the Nepali market over the past month. Comparing the prices on 18th Baisakh to those on 18th Jestha, the average price of red potatoes has risen from NPR 24.50 per kilogram to NPR 32.50 per kilogram, indicating a 32.65 percent increase.

Similarly, the price of dried Indian onions has also risen. On 18th Baisakh, the average price was NPR 38.38 per kilogram, which increased to NPR 41.50 per kilogram by 18th Jestha, representing an 8.13 percent rise. This reflects a notable shift in the costs of these essential items in households across the country.
